Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Therapist, Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size Dietitian
Hello! My name is Golie Khayef and I am a non-diet intuitive eating dietitian who has successfully guided several individuals who struggled with disordered eating behaviors or eating disorders for over a decade. Why am I confident in my abilities to help YOU? I earned a doctorate degree in nutrition education, completed a very competitive internship program and have 10 years of experience in the field but more importantly, I have a healthy relationship with food and my body that I earned through my own journey!
Is food supposed to be my medicine and heal my body every day? Or is it supposed to be my joy and highlight of the day? Why do I resort to food for everything? Why is food ruling my life? Why am I thinking about food every moment of my day? Food and body image are ruining my life! I can’t wait to live my life free of all these thoughts!!! Sound familiar? Yes, the mental battle is exhausting but you are not alone! I CAN HELP YOU! Healing of the mind and body start here!
CLINICAL APPROACH
INITIAL SESSION (60 min):
FOLLOW-UP SESSION (50 min)
DAILY CHECK-INS: I make daily commitment to my clients by texting them every day; This is a very unique approach that I have to treatment and recovery. Over the years, I have learned that frequent check-ins are the best way to increase level of accountability and trust, both of which can miraculously increase the speed of recovery and long-term well-being of my clients!
GROCERY STORE VISIT (60 min)
We can go grocery shopping together during which, I will provide you with tips on how to have a stress-free supermarket experience as well as some quick and easy recipes.
EATING TOGETHER (60-90 min):
It is often difficult for my clients to know when to start/stop eating, how much to eat, what to eat and when. During these outings, we address all these questions/concerns while addressing intuitive/mindful eating and facing the real fear and anxiety.
TEACHING, LEADERSHIP, AND MANAGEMENT
I have been teaching nutrition at university level since 2010. I have always taken advantage of my academic position to educate my students about the link between mental health and nutrition and to share my clinical knowledge. I have mentored and supervised several students/interns at Pacifica Recovery Services, many of which have ended up working in the field after their rotations. In 2014, I was promoted to the position of Dietetic Internship Director and in 2016, I directed the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at Cal Poly Pomona University.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
I have been practicing in the field since 2010 and have provided nutritional help to clients with all types and severity of Eating Disorders and/or compulsive and addictive behaviors. I have worked in a partial hospitalization as well as an intensive outpatient setting. I have had patients of all ages (11-75 years old) and from variety of ethnic and educational backgrounds as well as sexual orientation and lifestyle patterns (i.e. veganism, vegetarianism, and omnivore).
