About Me

Dr. Golie Khayef

DrPH, MS, RDN, CEDRD

Hello there! I'm Dr. Golie Khayef or as my clients and students like to call me, Dr. Golie! I am a mother to Darius and Della, a registered dietitian, a college professor, and most importantly, the coauthor of the new book that you and I are about to write together: The book of freedom and possibility! In fact, this is a title that one of my clients gave hers. This is a book based on a true story! A book about YOU. And the best part? You get to be the main author!

Welcome!

I am pleased to say that I am a qualified clinician with over a decade of experience in the field of nutrition and mental health and a diverse background that makes my approach to treatment rather unique. I grew up in Iran, a country that takes pride in its distinct Persian cuisine and celebrations with food! Every weekend for 20 years, my entire family would gather at my grandma’s house to watch her cook her signature dishes and enjoy the meal around the same table. The day was always filled with anticipation and vibration; aroma and laughter; serenity and joy.

I immigrated to the U.S. in 2001 to start my education journey and although many things have changed in my life since then, one thing never changed: my relationship with food.  Food forever means home!  Food means family and childhood; food is adventure and joy! Food is physical and mental health!

What makes my approach unique? I bring all of this energy and passion into my work with clients. I provide personalized care because I highly despise our Western medical care model! I take the time and energy to invest in creating a trusting and caring bond with each one of my clients which eventually leads to healing. When there is trust, there is often communication, commitment, and accountability. When there is communication and commitment, there is the beginning of healing and recovery.

I go to work every day in the beautiful city of Claremont in Southern California to provide support to my clients both in person and via telehealth sessions. Even though the digital revolution in healthcare is speeding up, I still choose to communicate with my clients face-to-face whenever possible. I believe that I am a much better clinician if we meet in person and exchange not only words but also vulnerability, strength, inspiration, healing touch, and grounding practices.

And last but not least, I believe recovery happens in between sessions! This is why I make myself available to my clients in between sessions via text and phone calls. They can reach out any time to share their struggles, questions, worries, or their success stories! This has helped many individuals feel more supported and encouraged to not give up when recovery becomes demanding.

If you are still looking for personalized care for your nutrition needs, I am here for you!

I am looking forward to working with you!
